Already in 2015 many governments adapted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, along with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The bold agenda sets out a global framework to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and fix climate change until 2030. Building on the historic Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the ambitious set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 associated targets is people-centred, transformative, universal and integrated.
The panel will focus on the Goal number 8.9: “By 2030, devise and implement policies to promote sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products”. We will not only talk about environmental sustainability but also economic sustainability, and how to secure this fascinating business to provide jobs and services also in the future, despite of the challenges the industry segment has met lately.
